Mentos was about to launch a new product (”Say Hi”), with emojis printed over their candies, to break the ice and push fresh connections on.
So, we thought about the consumer, young, eager to make friends and get to say hi abroad and we created the promotion “Put your face on and say hi”. The consumer would win a free social reward (surf, dance and language classes) and a chance to travel around the world,.
An epic amount of ideas were generated from the power of saying hi, from a booth where anyone could imitate the emojis and get to know someone for real, brand activations on spot where making friends is critical: first day in college, hostels, airport departures, plus cool social media , to street candy sellers’ sponsored sales training and facial-recognition website.
The campaign was cancelled due to the pandemic, and despite the “bye”, we never gave up on saying hi.
